AJ.C. MEETING. CRAGFORD BEATS IN THE SHADE. MOVIE STAR (N.Z.) WINS BREEDERS PLATE. SYDNEY, October 6. The weatlier' for the second day of the Australian Jockey Club's meeting at Eandwick was fine and there was a large attendance. Tho New Zealand juvenile Movie Star secured.the honour of registering the first victory; on behalf of the "Dominion at the spring carnival. Movie Star was bought three weeks ago by Mr. H. Stanbridge from Mr. W. G. Stead. Paquitoi which went' out a strong public fancy for the Metropolitan, let his supporters down badly. He ran prominently in the early stages of the race, but died away in the run home. The winner, Cragford, was always prominent, and came away in the straight to win with ease, creating an Australian and New Zealand record. First Acre, who gave a brilliant display in the Kensington Handicap on Saturday, was regarded as a certain winner in the Squatters 5 Handicap, and though he /was given an opportunity could not do better than run fourth.

Gay Crest and Paquito were together, and then came John Buchan, Cragford and Potent. - Passing the mile post Jeypore increased his lead to six lengths, followed by Ruffler, Potent, Paquito, Concentrate, Gay Crest and In the Shade. Along the back of the course Jeypore led the field by eight lengths from Ruffler, Waterline," John Buchan, Potent, Cragford and Concentrate. Turning for homo Jeypore and Ruffler were together, just clear of Cragford, In the Shade, Gay Crest and Concentrate. Jeypore aid Cragford raced to the front, and passing the Leger stand were closely pressed by jn the Shade, who momentarily appeared likely to dispute the issue with Cragford, but was unable to make an impression in the final strides, •leaving Cragford to go on to an easy victory by two lengths. Quickly running to the front, Ragatsky took the role of pacemaker from Scudalong, Tressady Rock, Kinross and Burraform. Passing the stand the first time round Ragatsky showed the way to Tressady Rock, Scudalong a and Good Whisky, and along the back of the course Ragatsky was still in the place of honour from Tressady Rock, Scudalong and Burraform. Ragatsky and Tressady Rock cleared the last obstacle together ahead of Burraform and Good Whisky. Tressady Rock assumed control entering the straight and won comfortably by four lengths. Time, 4.335.
