LIGHT ON MOUNT EGMONT.

SURVEY PARTY OPERATING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTx Monday. The appearance, of a light on Mount Egrnout, which aroused interest in Eltham last week, is explained by the operations of a Government survey party engaged in geodetic triangulation work. The headquarters of the party is at present in Eltham. The lamp used on the mountain is a large motor car headlamp with dry batteries and it is fitted with a time-switch lamp. It has a very contracted loam, which is visible for more than 20 niles. A comprehensive survey of the whole of the North Island is being made. The party will later work through the King Country.
