PLUNKET SOCIETY.

Mrs. A. Murdoch presided over the annual meeting of the Otahuhu branch of the Plunket Society, which was held in the Plunket room, Great South Road. The following were elected to the executive for the ensuing year: —Patroness, Mrs. A. E. M. Rhind; president, Mrs. A. "Murdoch; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. H. T. Clements; committee, ■Mesdames E. B. Todd, S. Wallace, E. Wallace, F. Andrew, G. V. Pearce, Payne, Kent-Johnson, Lawes, McAnulty, Baxter, Gillies, Walters, Flood, McCowatt, Jameson. Mclvor, Ayers, Boniface, Pollard, Grey, and Hodson. The annual report read by the secretary, Mrs. H. T. Clements, stated that the work of the branch had been carried out in a most satisfactory manner. The sum of £52 10/G had been obtained at the annual children's ball. During , the year, 1821 mothers had visited the rooms, 1C43 babies up to two years of age, including 90 new babies, and 423 children had received attention. Mesdames Rhine, Upton, McFarla'ne and Cullen were thanked for having provided conveyances for the nurse to visit homes in the outlying districts. Thanks were also extended to the Passenger Transport Company for having provided Nurse Swin with free transport. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs. Clements for her services. Mrs. Murd* :"■. the president, said that the efforts of the Otahuhu branch had always received full recognition from headquarters, which had always expressed its satisfaction at the way in which the branch had raised its annual contribution. The weekly donations of the mothers at the rooms had totalled £21 6/5 for the year, which brought the a'/inual quota to the fund up to approximately £74. It was decided to hold a plain and fancy dress ball in the Public Hall in October. A special prize has been offered by Mrs. Murdoch for the best nursery rhyme character costume.
