The , weather was showery, for training work'iat Ellerslie this morning. Heavy! rain, fell yesterday and overnight, and in consequence the going was as heavy as at any period during the winter months. The course proper, with the poles about 60ft out from the rails, No. 3 grass track, and the sand were open for fast work. There was a fair amount of galloping despite the conditions, but the times were slow. Several of the horses, registered pleasing performances, among, them being Cylinder,"Silvermine, Gold Money, Catoma, Seatown, Tetrachate, Biddy Comet, Awaken, and Prodice. The Course Proper. Hannibal was the first out, running home from the half-mile post in 58s. Good Idea completed a six-furlong task in 1.32 1-5. Gold Lily was going better than Kawainga at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.30 1-5. Awaken showed to more advantage than Te Atiawa at the end of five fur - lono-s run in 1.13 4-5. Awaken did her work well, but To Atiawa is not a good track horse. Great Emblem and La'nd Measure ran six furlongs in 1.29 2-5. There was little between them at the finish. Cylinder and Silvermine jumped away at the five-furlong post and ran home in 1.10 2-5. This was the best of the •morning over the distance, both handling the heavy going well and finishing on terms, though Cylinder impressed more. Lusoma and Stimulant jumped off at the seven-furlong po-t, running the first three furlongs in 42 2-ss, and the full distance in 1.45. They were both stopping at the finish. Gold Money finished on better than Ruling King after running six furlongs in 1.27 1-5. Over a furlong less Nancy Lee was timed to run 1.13 3-5. She handled the heavy going in good style. Star - Stranger and Eager Rose were not doing their best to complete six furlongs in 1.31 4-5. Star Stranger was troubled by the heavy ground. Gold Pit* was doing better than Ecila over half a mile, which occupied 5Ss.. After Breakfast. After • giving Manawhenua a start, Catoma was holding him safely at the end of seven furlongs, which occupied 1.44, Catoma's time being a second faster.Taumai, King Swift, and Kamehameha jumped off at the mile post, taking 59s for the first four furlongs, and completing the distance in 2.1 2-5. They finished as named. Bonnylea, Gibraltar, and Lady Vane were in that order at the end of half a mile, which took s(i 4-os. The Mitchelson Cup candidates Seatowh and. Gay Cockade finished well in front of Merry Mason over six furlongs. He ran the first three in 43 l-ss, and finished his task in 1.25, Merry Mason, taking 1.31 1-5. The two-year-olds La Poupee and Chief Clerk were given an easy half mile, completing their task in 1.4 1-5. Tetrachate, Flying Prince, and Lady Quex were companions over five furlongs, finishing as 'named. They ran the first two furlongs in 2(5 4-ss, and completed their work in 1.11 3-5. Tetrachate impressed most. Chief Cook and Teller were timed to run half a mile in 58s. There was not much between them at the finish, though the former pleased better. Red Lion strode home from the halfmile- post in 1.0 2-5. Biddy Comet Impresses. Biddy Comet, Biddy's Boy, and Royal Fi'nance were in that order at the conclusion of six furlongs, the first throe taking 41 2-ss, and the full distance 1.27 2-5. Biddy Comet went very impressively. Freyja and Royal Day were in front of> Clockwork at the end of seven furlongs, which took 1.46. Prodice, who had the outside running, was going better tha'a Desert Glow at the end of seven furlongs, the first thrSfe being run in 40 1-os, and the full distance in 1.42 2-5. This was the best gallop over the distance during the morning. Mirabilary, who was schooled earlier, strode after seven furlongs, but was not after time. Good Boy was slightly in front of Escalus while running five furlongs in 1.14 3-5. Jumping off at the mile post, Scaramouche ran his first four furlongs in 58s. and completed his task in 2.5 1-5. The two-year-olds Baroscope, Princess Bede, a'nd Kingsway sprinted down the straight, shaping nicely. No. 3 Grass. Importer was given strong -work over a round, completing his task in. 2.0. Imateagirl and Jolmeen got to the end of a similar distance in 1.52 1-5. There was little between them at the finish. Make Up strode over six furlongs, but was not after time. • Comma'ndant and Chrysology were companions over six furlongs, and finished together in 1.20 3-5. Wild Country was given a work-out over six furlongs, covering the jompey in 1.26 2-5. Awamutu, who was past the six-fur-long post when he began, was timed to run the last five furlongs in 1.15, but he was never going better than threequarter pace. The Sand. The Fox .did serviceable work on this track, but was not after time. Lady Court and Sin Mond were about on terras at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.6 2-5. Great Charter -was doing better than Courtesy after completing six furlongs in 1.19 1-5. Sub-editor was not bustled to run home from the five-furlong post in 1.14 4-5. Operatic sprinted half a mile in 56 3-ss. He was not hurried over the early part of the gallop.

Vandyke sprinted five: furlongs in 1-9 1-5- , , Thunderstorm ran seven iurlonga in 1.42 1-5. Llanore was too good for Gay Idea over half a mile in 52 4-ss. The Jumpers. Mirabilary (A. McDonald), and Air King (J. Mcßae) were associated in a schooling bout over four hurdles, completing their task safely. The former pleased more.. . .. Arrivals.
