BOMBAY RIOTING. Armed Reinforcements to Deal With Mob. INCITED BY CONGRESS.

Fifteen persons, including an Indian magistrate and several forest officials, were killed and more than 50 were injured in a clash between a mob of 5000 rioters and the police in the forest of Chirnar, near Panvel, in the Kolaba Province of the Bombay Presidency. The Indian National Congress "War Council" of Panvel had prevailed on a large number of foresters, to disobey the forest laws and the police arrested five of them. A large crowd of sympathisers attacked the police and forest officials, killed three of the latter and attempted to rescue the prisoners. Twice the police opened fire, but failed to quell the disorder. Whereupon armed reinforcements were rushed to the scene from Bombay.
