SAMOAN WOMEN.
PETITION" TO GENEVA. •STATEMENT OF GRIEVANCES. ■ A petition has 'been sent to the League of Nations by the New Zealand section of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom on behalf of the women of Western Samoa, who had sent .to the local section a list of the grievances from which they asked relief. The petition asks that an investigation 'be made into these matters and a copy has been forwarded -to the New Zealand Government. The members of the league in Auckland -were requested to undertake this work by Miss M. Sheepshanks, international secretary of the league at Geneva, who has been in close association with the members of the Mandates Commission in connection "with Samoan affairs. Advantage was also taken of the recent visit to Auckland of Miss Eleanor Moore, secretary of l he league in Australia, to confer with her on the grievances of the Samoan women. Miss Moore has undertaken to arrange for the sending of a similar petition to Geneva, by Australian members of the league,
