ROTORUA NOTES.
Mrs. F. W. Wilkie' and Master. D. Wilkie, Pukaki Street, have returned from New Plymouth. Mrs. Boucher, Ohinemutu, has been on a visit to Okoroire. Miss Dorothy Brookfield, St. Helier's Bay, has been staying at Waiwera House while in Rotorua. The Rev. Hetherington, Mrs. Hetherington, and Miss Hetherington, Devon Street, have left for Napier, where Mr. Hetherington will attend the sitting of synod. Mrs. A. G. Holland, Carnot Street, has returned from Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. Halkett, Pukeatua Street, are visiting Napier in connection with the sitting of synod. The members of the Devon Street Church organised a fancy dress dance on Wednesday evening at the Devon Street Hall, which was decorated with a canopy of multi-coloured streamers, shaded pink lights and mauve wistaria, while the lounge was arranged with spring bulbs and had a blazing log fire. The judges of the fancy costumes were Miss Isles, Miss M. Mactier, and Mr. C. G. Hodgson, who awarded the prizes as follow: Prettiest costume, Miss Tlio.mpson, as early Victorian; most original, lady, Mrs. Harvey, peacock; gentleman, Miss P. Butland, modern coster; humorous lady, Mr. Hamilton as "'Arriett"; gentleman, Mrs. Knowles, Guy Fawkes; best poster, Mrs. Kingsland, Bournville cocoa; best pigeon pair, Mrs. C. H. 0. Worthington as night, and Mr. W. A. Carter, day; special prize, Mrs. Savage, nigger minstrel. Several novelty dances were held. A waltzing competition was won by Mr. and Mrs. Mason, while the Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Frandi and Mr. Morrison. Other costumes 5 were: Mrs. Dyson, a posy of flowers; Mrs. W. A. Carter, lavender and old lace; Mrs. R. E. Stewart, cabaret harlequin; Miss A. Marcroft, Persian princess; Miss Manning, Spanish dancer; Miss J, Hodgson, cabaret harlequin; Miss G. Savage, sailor; Miss Simpson, pierrette; Miss M. Mcllroy, gold and red pierrette. Also present were: Mesdames A. G. Holland, Cooney, Plummer, Orsler, Parata, J. W. Burley (Taumarunui), ! Wood, H. Richardson, Mansefield, Hill, Groves, Bexley, Butt, Kitti, Ralph, O'Con'nor, C. J. Hodgson, Campbell, McHale, Gleeson, Mason, Misses J. Hodgson, D. Hodgson, J. Carter, R. Owen's, Parata, Isles, V. St. Clair, Aubertin, Hill. P. St. Clair, R. Woolliams, S. Knowles, and Mann.
