WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

HUNTLY. The monthly meeting of the Huntly Women's Institute was held recently in the Presbyterian School Hall, and there was a good attendance of members. After the routine business had been disposed of, a discussion on the proposed formation of a federation in the Waikato took place, and members were elected to represent Huntly at a meeting of delegates held at the Y.M.C.A. Hall, Hamilton, on September 26. The roll call was then taken, after which each member had to recite or sing a song, failing this a fine was imposed. Competitions were afterwards introduced, the winners of the prizes being Mrs. Hanley and Mrs. Cliff. Miss Wardell entertained the gathering with a number of gramophone selections. MATATA. The monthly meeting was held last Thursday. Mrs. Withy presided. A delegate to the Dominion conference to be held in Wellington was elected. The bulb show held under the auspices of the Matata Women's Institute was successful, and the results satisfactory. It was decided to make the show an annual affair. An interesting demonstration on paper flower making was given by Miss •Besznark. A competition, "Something New from Something Old," was won by Mrs. Simpson, first, a pair of slippers from a felt hat; Mrs. Caverhill, second. For the best bowl of blue and gold flowers Mrs. A.
