JOHN BURNS AND CO., LTD,
A SATISFACTORY YEAR
The annual meeting of the shareholders in John Burns and Company, Limited, was held yesterday. The chairman, Mr. Robert Burns, when submitting the bal-ance-sheet, remarked that it was a matter for congratulation that, in spite of the present trade depression, the_ turnover for the past year showed a distinct improvement on the previous 12 months. This was duo to the good trading of the first half of the year. The Christchurch manager, Mr. G. Smith, reported _on the very satisfactory state of the business in the Christchurch and Greymouth branches. The usual dividend was declared, and the London director, Mr. C. C. Brown-Douglas, was re-elected.
