MRS. A. ROSS.
A very old resident of Auckland, Mrs. Alexandrina Ross, died on September 24 at tlie home of lier boh, Mr. S. Ross, Buhver Street, Devonport. She was born in Nova Scotia 87 years ago, and, when eight years of age, was taken by her parents to Adelaide. In 1852 the family came to New Zealand, so that Mrs. Ross had been here for 78 years. Her father, Mr. John McLeod, was one of the early settlers at Waipu, but afterwards moved to Whangarei Heads, where he was farming for many years. Miss McLeod was married to Mr. Alex. Ross by the Rev. David Bruce, in 1864. Her husband came .to New Zealand when a boy, in the same ship as the McLeod family. She is survived by the following children: —Messrs. Ronald, Donald, Hugh, and Septimus Roes, of Auckland; Alexander and David Ross, of Wellington; and John Ross and Mrs. Mary Kempton, of Sydney.
