OBITUARY.
V 0". ME. W. D. ROSS. The death occurred last evening of Mr. Walter Douglas Ross, at his residence, 36, Wanganni Avenue, Ponsonby, after an illness of six months. Mr. " Doug." Ross was very "well known to all yachtsmen, having been an active -worker in the sport for many years. He was a member of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee ior some years, and was honorary secretary for two vears. He took more interest in the motor boat section of "the sport, and was for ten years honorary secretary the New Zealand Power Boat Association. His services as timekeeper of
cruising races were much sought after, and, in conjunction with Mr. E. J. Kelly, Mr. Ross often took the finishing times for the boats of the Royal New Zealand Yacht squadron, of which he was a member for two years, also for the Akaroa and Ponsonby yacht clubs. He was also honorary handicapper for launch races for these clubs, his skill in this respect being well known, and acknowledged by competitors and club ofiicials. Mr. Ross was also a prominent member of the Eden Foresters' Lodge. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. G. A. Framm, of Walton, and the Misses May and Valerie Ross.
