INDOOR BOWLING.
FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' FINALS. On Thursday next, October 2, at the Methodist Hall, Great North Road, both the open fours final games and the champion singles final games will be played. All games commence at 7.30 p.m. sharp. In the open fours the following teams arß left in to play off on the two-life system:— Mount Albert (1.0. R.). —J. Bridge, J. Cochrane, R. Brodie, H. J. Baker; Nil Desperandum (A.0.F.), D. Elliott, L. Whits, TV. Rowland, Geo. Smith; Birkenhead (A.0.F.), E. Loggie, D. Simpson, E. Swandail, E. A. Harken; Devonport (A.0.F.), • A. Williams, G. Scotland, F. Williams, F. Sullivan. The draw for round 4 In the singles' inter-section play is as follows: —G. Day (two-lifer), a bye; .T. McPherson nlays S. Withers (both one-lifers). The winner of round 4 thus has to beat last year's champion twice to win. All of these 19 finalists in the contest, with the exception of three, have, on former occasions, either won the contest or been runner-up, so that a very higli standard of play may be expected.
