MERCER CHARGED.
ALLEGED BANKRUPTCY ACT BREACHES. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent;), TAUMARUNUI, Friday. David Isaac, a mercer, was to-day charged in the Magistrate's Court with alleged breaches of the Bankruptcy Act. Accused pleaded not guilty and elected to bo dealt with by the Supreme Court. Accused was charged (1) with failing to keep within three years prior to his bankruptcy such books as were usual and proper in the business df a mercer, and which would sufficiently set forth, his business transactions and disclose his financial position; (2) with contracting a debt of £108 15/4 with the Bank of Australasia at a time when he could not have any reasonable or probable expectations of being able to pay the said debt as well as his other'debts; (3) with falsely representing that his stock in trade was worth £3000, and obtaining a sum of £108 15/4 from the Bank of Australasia. After evidence had been heard accused was committed to the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Hamilton for trial. Bail of £50 and one surety of £50 was allowed.
