HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. RAILWAY ESTIMATES PASSED GAMING LEGISLATION TO-DAY. (By Telegraph.—-Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. After trying unsuccessfully what he termed the "loose rein," the ActingPrime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Eaneom, asked the House yesterday not to adjourn until a substantial portion of the main: Estimates had. been passed. Although the leader of the Labour party made a personal protest- against abandoning the limitation of hours, he failed in a division to carry his'objection, and the House decided to sit on •until five classes had been disposed of. A further two hours' consideration] served to dispose of the.Eailway Estimates. . The main discussion, on the vote for the Labour Department, was provoked by a Labour amendment, moved by Mr. -M. J. Savage (Auckland West), to reduce tke total sum by £5 as an indication •that the House believed that definite proposals for the employment of all who were but of work should be presented to Parliament before the House rose. It was asserted by Mr. Savage that Parliament owed it. to the country that something of a definite character should be done to meet the situation. The amendment was rejected by 37 votes to 27, the minority including five Eeform members. The Internal Affairs Estimates were the subject of a desultory discussion, during which the Minister, the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, said it was the Government's intention to gazette next •week regulations for the censorship of film posters. _ ] " Several other clauses of the Estimates were passed, and the House rose at 2.10 a.m. Mr. Eansom intimated that the Gaming Amendment Bill would be taken on the resumption. .
