TATHAPE,
There -was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Taihape Chamber of Commerce, membership of which stands at 52. The annual report commented on a large number of matters in which the chamber had interested itself, and said achievements due partly to its endeavours were the construction of the new infant school, and dental clinic, the improvements to the Waiouri-Tokaanu Road, and an Invitation to nominate a member for a seat on the local committee of the Wanganui Hospital Board. Officers elected were: President, Mr. W. Haydon Maclean; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. L. Butler and A. K. Fannin; committee, Messrs. T. J. Collinson, F. Bead, F. R. A. White, B. Loader, R. D. Wilson, W. H. Nicholls, H. A. Truman, P. Peder. sen, D. Neagle, H. I. Christensen, F. Daniels, L. C. Hawk. A. M. Barnard, J. B. Hamill, and H, E. MacCallum; secretary, Mr.. F. Sparks; auditor, Mr. A. M. Ryan. WHAKATA2JE. At the monthly meeting of the harbour board the R.M. Co. requested permission to widen the roadway on the northern end of their section by reclaiming five feet of the foreshore, to enable cars to be manoeuvred on to that road, also to construct a septic tank on the section and to beautify the corner reserve alongside their new premises under the supervision of the board and in conjunction with the beautifying society, it was decided to meet the local representatives of the company. The wharfinger reported that wharfage dues totalled tI4S 11/2 for inward shipments and £43 outwards, making a total of £191 12/1. Tins was a decrease of £13 12/3. Amounts totalling £124 19/2 were rtassed for payment.
