The final matches for the amateur and professional golf championships of Australia were played to-day in perfect weather. H. W. Hattersley (New South Wales) by beating Alex, Russell (Victoria), three up and one, became amateur champion. J. . Robertson (Tasmania) by defeating Rufus Stewart (South Australia), two up arid one, carried off the professional titled •Hattersley, who won the first four holes in this afternoon's play, provided thrills by driving 280 yds and 282 yds at the 25th and 27th holes.
