MID-WEEK GAMES.

KEEN COMPETITION. The business houses competition was advanced a further stage this week, when a full programme was played off. Farmers, after a gruelling struggle with Abels, wrested the points by a two-goal margin. The losers showed pronounced weakness In front of goal. Shell Oil were hard pressed to take the points from Automatic Telephones, but got home ultimately by the odd goal in five. Kay, Chalmers, and Davis lotted for the Shell, and Humphreys for the Telephonists. Training College were. too fit and fast for Grand Hotel, and, mainly due to forward rushes, the former gained a 3 —l verdict after a good game. Bush (2) and Herbert were the marksmen for the teachers, while Bolton registered for the Hotel near the end.

Milk Co. and Customs provided the best game of the week, and, after a fast and exciting contest, the former gained the day by the odd goal in three. Customs were in rampant form during the first spell, and the change over found them one goal ahead. Customs continued to have the best of the play at the outset of the second session till Milk Co. effected some team changes, and shortly afterwards Flashman netted. Stone then came into the forward line, and, after some dashing rushes by the forwards, this player sent a fast low drive into the net, Mallard having no chance to save. Customs were unable to raise the necessary gallop in the closing stages to pull the game out of the fire, and Milk Co. retired with the points, though Customs doubtless took a deal of the credit. All matches next week will be played on Blandford Park, weather permitting. The fixtures are:— Tuesday, Shell Oil v. Farmers, 4.15 p.m.; Wednesday, Grand Hotel v. Milk Co., Ltd., 3.30 p.m.; Wednesday, Automatic Phone v. Training College, 4.15 p.m.; Thursday, Abels v. Customs, 4.15 p.m.
