DOMINION BUSINESS SEPARATE,
Mr.' Beaumont Smith, managingdirector for Williamson Films, Ltd., ' .who is in Australia, has cabled to Mr. A. K. Shephard, general manager of J. C. . Williamson Films in New Zealand, as follows:—"The reported deal between Fox Films and J. C. Williamson theatres in New Zealand is absolutely untrue and can be flatly contradicted." „ Mr. Shephard, who is in Auckland said the rumour that had been circu- / lated had doubtless arisen owing to the fact, that many people were of opinion that Hoyts Theatres in Australia were .;' largely interested in Williamsons' New Zealand' business. That was not the case. The ownership of the New Zealand business was in the hands of J- ,' C. Williamson "(N.Z.) 5 , Ltd., and Mr. ■ Beaumont Smith, and was not affected in any way by the sale of Hoyts ; Theatres.; to Fox and Metro-Goldwyn.
