PRICES AT FRANKTON. BEEF A LITTLE CHEAPER,

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, September 16, as under:— There was a large yarding of beef. Ox beef'sold at slightly lower rates. Choice cow and heifer beef sold at full late rates. On account of, Mr. E. W. R. Leslie we eold a consignment of prime bullocks at an average of £15 13/6; also young cowe and heifers, at up to £13 15/; ordinary fat cowe, £9. to £10 15/; moderate quality cows, at £7 15/ to £8 15/; light Jersey cows and heifers sold at £5 10/ to £6 15/; runners, at up to £4 14/; light vealers, 19/ to 42/; There was a large yarding ot fat sheep, which met with a sticky market, and prices were lower, and a good number were passed. Prime fat wethers sold at up to 28/8; fat wethers, 27/. Fat ewes, sold at up to 22/. Light fat ewes, at 16/. On account of Mr. J. Pratt we sold spring lambs at 30/; ordinary fat hoggets, at 22/6. There was a lar,ge yarding of store hoggets, and only the best quality were in demand. For second class and inferior there was little demand, and the majority were passed at auction. Store wether Down hoggete, 14/; cull Down cross hoggets, 9/6. Store cattle were yarded in good numbers and sold at late rates. Two and threc-year-old Holsteln steers made £7 14/. A pen of 21 Shorthorn yearling steers, at £5 12/6, and a pen ,of Shorthorn and Jersey cross yearling heifers, £4 10/; store cows, £4 1/ to £6. There was a fair yarding of fat pigs, which sold at last week's rates. Store pigs were again in very keen demand. Heavy baconers, £3 to £3 5/; medium, £2 14/ to £2 18/; porkers, £2 3/ to £2 12/.; large stores, £2 2/ to £2 9/; medium, £1 15/ to £1 18/; slips, £1. 10/ to £1 13/; best weaners, £1 2/ to £1 9/. , Farmers' Coperative Auctioneering tompanyy Ltd., report as follows:—A heavy yarding of beef and.store cattle and a good yarding of all classes of sheep. Fat bullocks made £13 to £13 11/; lighter, £12 to £12 12/; prime fat cows, £11 to £13 4/; lighter, £9 15/ to £10 9/; prime fat heifers, £12 to £13; medium, £8 to £9 2/6; forward-con-ditioned cows, 47/6 to £5 .12/6; vealers, 20/ to £3 9/; store cows, £3 19/ to £7; cowe with calves, £6 10/; Shorthorn steers, £8; in-calf Shorthorn heifers, £9; yearling Jersey heifers, £5 15/; fat wethers, 29/ to 30/3; store wethers, 16/ to 19/; fat hoggets, 18/ to 22/9; fat ewes, 16/ to £1 0/3; store ewes, 8/; heavy porkers, £2 10/ to £2 16/; light, £2 to £2 5/; good stores, 38/ to £2 2/; slips, 29/ to 33/; weaners, 21/ to 27/.

TAUMARUNUI. The Taumarunui stock sale held onTues- i day attracted a large number of farmers | and outside buyers. There was a large ( yarding of good quality young.cattle, and the sheep penned were all well-grown ewe and wether hoggets: The majority of.-the pig pens were occupied, and wellbred weaners made up to 26/ and slips 30/6.- Mixed sex hoggets made up to 18/9, wether hoggets 17/6, and one pen of ewe hoggets 22/. There was an absence of fat cattle. Black Polled-Angus steers made up to £7. The following prices were realised: — Pigs.—Weaners, 11/6, 18/, 21/6, 23/6 to 26/; slips, 24/6 to 30/6. Sheep: Mixed sex hoggets, 15/5, 16/10, 18/3 to 18/9; wether hoggets, 17/5; ewe hoggets, 22/. Cattle: Fat cows, £6 17/6; store cows, £3 2/6; heifers, in calf to B.P. bull, £4 6/; B.P. steers £7; 2%-year steers (Red Polls) were passed in at £7 2/6, £8 wanted; Holstein steers (2%-year-old), £5 8/; other 2%-year-olcl steers, up to £5 2/6; 18-month steers, £3; run cows, in calf to P.A. bull, passed in at £3,5/.
