CHILDREN'S HEALTH CAMPS. EXTENSION ADVOCATED. SIR GEORGE GREY'S HOME. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) .WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A plea for the enlargement of the health camp scheme, made by Mr. W. E. Parry (Labour, •* Auckland ■' Central) , in the House of Representatives .to-night, was warmly responded to by the Minister of Education, the Hon. H. Atrnore. Mr. Parry said there could be no doubt of the benefit the-children were receiving from attendance at health camps. He suggested that the Education Departnient_should enter into negotiations with a view to the acquisition of #ie .late Sir George Grey's home at Kawan. It was a magnificent site, admirably suited for a permanent health camp. There was a possibility that the Grey estate, would be sold and subdivided, and it would be an excellent move if . the Department could secure the place before it was otherwise disposed' of. Mr. Atmore said he recognised the importance arid value of health camps, and he believed more money should be expended upon them. They were doing national work, and deserved to be enlarged. In addition, the Government should own a permanent health camp site. j

OpenrAir Schools Successful. The Minister told, the' House that he would go a good distance with Mr. J. S. Eletcher (Independent, Grey Lynn), who had advocated the extension of open-air schools. The improved Linwo.od School was the finest he had seen, and there was net the slightest doubt that this and the Fendalton School .'were- giving good results. Three or four open-air schools had also been erected at Kaiapoi, and he certainly thought these, schools should be extended. " .. .
