CAMPAIGN OPENS WELL.

BUSY TIME FOR ARCHITECT.

The scheme launched in Auckland under the auspices of the Home Modernising Society promises to be most successful. The office for the society was opened at nine o'clock yesterday morning, and up to noon to-day sixteen applications had been received from people willing to spend in the aggregate over £3000. The prospective jobs ranged in Talue from £10 to £500. One application was for the painting' of three houses.

The free services of an architect,. Mr. L. E. Brooker, are available, aild to-day he was having a very busy time preparing specifications. Those connected with the movement consider that the response has been very encouraging.
