INCOME TAX EXEMPTION.
LOW LIMIT 'IMPRACTICABLE'
GOVERNMENT'S CONCLUSION,
A communication was received to-day by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce from the Acting Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, stating that a proposal to reduce the income tax exemption limit, had been considered and not found practicable. The allowance of £200 exemption, with allowance for wife and children, would mean that the tax in the lower grades would amount to a tax on bachelors.
