CAUGHT STEALING.
WOMAN BOLTS FROM SHOP. FINE OF £5 IMPOSED. A married woman, Pansy Marguerite Milne Brimble, aged 21, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning when she pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a pair of stockings valued at 6/11, the property of a Karangahape Eoad shop. Chief Detective Hammond said that last Friday evening accused was in the shop when one of the assistants saw her take a pair of stockings and place them in her bag. ' She broke away from the assistant and bolted. "What are her circumstances?" asked the magistrate. Chief Detective Hammond: She is married and her husband is working. She herself works in a factory and earns £2 10/ weekly. She has been wearing the stolen stockings, Mr. Hunt: What do you want to steal for? Accused made no answer. The magistrate imposed a fine of £5, or one month's imprisonment, and ordered Mrs. Brimble to make restitution of 6/11 forthwith.
