A vandal or vandals broke into the Mount Cook Infant School during the week-end. Ji is known that upon "occasions someone lias been gaining .access and sleeping on the premises, as spare garments have been found made up as a bed, but on the present occasion much mischief has been committed, a cupboard and drawers being burst open and articles of all sorts scattered about broken and destroyed. In one room a tin of varnish has been poured in streaks all over the floor, and in the teachers' room a large packet of shellac was scattered everywhere, in addition to everything being spattered with French chalk. In the. babies' room not even the small drums have been spared, the tops being bashed in. One or two impressions of large feet have been found.
