SCENES OF HORROR UNEQUALLED IN 10 YEARS
Once again the West Indies has been visited by a devastating storm, Santo Domingo, the western portion of Haiti Island, having been swept by a hurncane estimated at times to have reached a velocity of 150 miles an hour. The city of Santo Domingo, the scene of the first settlement of the white man in the western world, has been wrecked and the death roll is reported at 900. Portions of the country are still isolated owing to the severance of communications. An appeal for aid and food has been answered by relief airships.
