The market is well supplied with all lines of fruit, though not so plentifully as at the beginning of the week. There is a slightly keener demand for oranges, but lemons are still dull of sale. There is little sale for Poorman oranges. Apples were very dull of sale to-day. For Californian grapes there is only a fair market. Quantities of ripe bananas are larger than usual, owing to the fact that a good many of this fruit have been repacked by the wholesale dealers, and more than usual were found to be too ripe to send away. A shipment of Samoan bananas arrived by the Tofua, and further supplies of Fijian will arrive by the Niagara on Monday. Prices are:—Apples: Delicious, 4/6 to 8/ per case; Doughertys, 4/6 to 7/; Stunners, 6/ to 8/6; Munroes, 4/6 to 6/; Ballarats, 6/ to 7/6; Grannie Smith, 8/6 to 10/. Poorman oranges: Large, 7/ to 8/; small, 2/6 to 3/. Oranges: Island repacks, according to count, 13/ to 17/; Australian Navels, 10/ to 13/; Mediterranean Sweet, 9/ to 10/. Mandarins: Ex cooler, 8/ to 16/. Grapes: Californian, Red Malaga, 33/ barrel; White Malaga, 18/ to 20/ case; White, Malaga, 25/ barrel; Thompson's Seedless, White, 16/ to 20/ barrel. Bananas: Choice firm, No. 1, to 33/9 per banana case, and to 22/6 ordinary case; medium, 25/ to 28/ per banana case; No. 2's, 10/ to 15/ per ordinary case. Carrots Are Dear. The position of the vegetable market has changed but little. There are large quantities of cabbage, lettuce, cauliflower and celery available. Carrots are unusually dear for this time of the year. Some have realised tip to 2d a bundle. Ruling values are:—Potatoes, Southern 6/ to 6/6 cwt, new 2d to 3Vsd lb; onions, American, 18/ to 18/6 bag, or £1 crate, local 12/ to 14/ cwt; kumaras, Island 11/ cwt, Tauranga 10/6 to 12/ cwt; cabbage, 1/ to 4/ sack; cauliflower, 1/ to 5/6 sack; swedes, 1/ to 1/9 bag; pumpkins, 8/ to 14/ cwt; beans, hothouse, 1/3 to 1/9 lb; lettuce, 1/ to 5/ case; cucumbers, hothouse, 5/ to 9/ dozen; vegetable marrows, 2/ to 3/ dozen; cabbage, on benches, 6d to 1/6 dozen; cauliflower, on benches, 6d to 3/9 dozen; celery, 6d to 3/ bundle; rhubarb, 2/6 to 3/6 dozen; spinach, 9d to 1/3 bundle; pumpkins, on benches, 1/ to 2/6 each; radish, 1/ to 1/6 dozen; spring onions, 4d to 8d bundle; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 9d to 1/9 dozen; asparagus, 1/6 to 3/ bundle; leeks, 2d to 4d bundle. Eggs More Plentiful. Supplies of eggs are increasing rapidly, and the prices for duck eggs have fallen. Current prices for first-class hen eggs are:—Special grade, 1/4, dozen; A grade, 1/3; B grade, 1/2; C grade, 1/. Duck eggs: Special grade, 1/1 dozen; A grade, 1/; C grade, lid. They were:— Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime,. 6/ to 7/6; not prime, 3/6 upwards; light breeds, prime, 4/ to 5/; not prime, 3/ upwards. Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 2/6 to 4/; light breeds, 2/ to 2/6. Fat hens: Heavy breede, 3/6 to 4/9; light, breeds, 3/ to 4/. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best,, 4/ to 6/; smaller, 2/6 upwards; light breeds, best, 4/6 to 6/6; smaller, 3/ upwards. Drakes: Young, prime, 3/ to 4/6; old, 2/6 to 3/6. Ducks: Young, 3/ to 4/: old, 2/ to 3/. Geeee: 4/6 to 6/. Turkey hens: 5/6 to 9/. Gobblers: 10/ to 18/6. Ducklings: 9d to 1/3. Cockerel chicks: Light breeds, 2d to 6d.
