(By ORIOX.)

August 30. September I—Auckland T.C. September o—Xew Brighton T.C. October 4—Methven T.C. October 11—Waikato T.C. October IS—Xorthland T.C. October 25, 27—Greymoutb T.C. October 25, 27 —Auckland T.C. October 27—Oamaru T.C. November I—'Wellington T.C. November 11, 13, 14 —N.Z. Metropolitan T.C.

Moko thief stepped half a mile smartly on Saturday morning, but he is very unreliable and .if his trainer can win a race -with the little bay he will be entitled to it. Eeliance is doing regular work on the Otahuhu track. The Gold Bell gelding lias not won a race for a longr time, and he does not appear to be a good proposition these times. Dan Direct was worked out at two miles by F. Smith the other afternoon. The roan horse -paced smoothly and well, but did not finish on strongly at the end of the trip. It looks as though his best performances will be recorded in sprint races. A heavy track may suit him. The Abbey is pacing boldly in his work. He will be competing in sprint races at the relief meeting, and if he could be relied upon to go away from the mark quickly he would take a deal of beating in the mile and a quarter on the second day. Ockley Wood, who may be one of the chief fancies in the slow class trot at the relief meeting, is one of L. F. Berkett's team. His best performance to date is two miles in 4.50 2-5. which time he recorded when he won the Ballance Handicap at Wanganui in April. Nelson Tasker paced nicely when doing a workout over two miles on Saturday and he should be ready to show his best next week-end. He can handle any going, but is set a solid task to give away 4Syds to the limit horses. Nelson Tasker has gone 4.29 1-5 and is on 4.31 on Saturday, but others in the race also have a little to come and go upon, taking a line throuch the best times. ° - Paradigm is not the best actioned trotter racing, but he can muster up a fair dash of pace, and also stavs well. He is on the front of the Onehunga Trot. a 4.40 class, on Saturday. At the Otahuhu meeting last February he won the Suburban Trot in 4.41 3-5. However, the class he is now meeting is a bit better than he downed in February. Margaret Wallace is getting near her best, but on the handicap she does notread like winning the 3.40 mile and a half at the relief meeting on Saturday. Her best performance so far is to go 3.39 1-5 into second place at Te Aroha. On the same mark as her on Saturday is l Nelson's Chum, who won easily in 3.34 at Xelson in Hay last. Sailor Boy, who is on the front of the 4.46 two miles on Saturday, has very little to his credit. Last season his best performance was to finish third in a mile race at Hawera in which he went 2.17. He is by 3lau-o'-War and perhaps will do better over a longer journey than a mile. Prince Pedro should be one of the solidly supported candidates in the Ponsonby Handicap on Saturday. The son of Pedro Pronto went 3.35 1-5 to get second at Cambridge in ilay. and is on 3.39 on Saturday. At the winter meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club he finished fifth in the Mangere Handicap after losing some lengths at the start. Windshield, the sister to Free Advice, in J. McKenzie's stable, has improved out of ;.ll knowledge in the past week or so and is now a very smart novice. Her workout on Saturday in company with Warplane and Arachne. was a very fine effort for a maiden, and she demonstrated she has plenty of speed. Pacing experience will be against her on Saturday and later on in the season she will be getting the money. So far there has been little encouragement to regard Stoney as a likely winner of a good handicap. However. the aged irrey gelding is pacing much better in his work at present than formerly, hut even so he is given to going to a' break occasionally and this fact does not induce confidence. He has gone one good race since being brought across from Sydney, this occasion being when he finished third to Eeremai and Florent in the Eichmond Handicap at the Otahuhu meeting in February. Stonev's time for the two miles was 4.31 1-5. He • is now on 4.34. but is not likely to be | fancied on Saturday. j
