ORPHANS' CLUB.
The Auckland Orphans' Club held its "ladies' night" at the Scots Hall on Saturday evening. The hall was decorated with streamers and banners, and a general air of festivity prevailed. Dr. Alaguire, president, wecoming the. ladies on behalf of the club, expressed the- hope that the ladies would, for this night, prove themselves good orphans, and enjoy themselves in the true Orphans' spirit. Mrs. Maguire, on behalf of the ladies, in a neat reply, expressed the approval of the visitors at the fare provided, and their pleasure at being present.
An excellent musical programme was provided, as follows: —Vocal items, "King Charles," Norman Day; "0, Lovely Night," Lambert Harvey; "Prologue I Pagliacci," Leu. Barnes; "The Minstrels' Ballad," C. Lambert; humour, Alan McElwain; xvlophone solo, R. Brinsden; duet for flute and horn, with orchestra accompaniment, V. Cater and Harry Benn; "Sally in Our Alley," Clarion Quartet; , "Th<j Coon's Day Out," orchestra.
