"LIGHTNING."
FIJIAN IDEA OF ELECTRICITY. The untutored mind of the natives of lnji cannot realise the tremendous part electricity playe in the lives of the people of the United States of America Two young chiefs who returned from the Seventh Day Adventist Conference in ban Lrancisco by the Aorangi, were .amazed at what they saw on their travels. These young- men, w ha attended the conference to repreeent the work of the mission in the Fijian Islands were taken on a visit to the principal cities including Xew York and Chicago. They could not understand the wonders of electricity. Their food was cooked bv it and their clothes washed by it.- What stood out more than anything else in their minds was the traffic control by arms and- signs. They were taken for an aeroplane flight over the Washing-ton, and on their return to Suva all they could talk about was lightning, which, to their minds, was! responsible for all the wonders they had ' seen. • - *
