PRINCIPAL FOR TRIAL.
ALLEGEDLY CRUEL TO PUPILS

Mrs. Hilda Fearn, aged 21, principal of the Mervalo High School, Biekley, who was proceeded against by the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, in connection with the death of one child from pneumonia, following measles, and the affliction of eight others with ringworm, has been committed for trial.
The assistant matron employed at the school from January to June last gave evidence that some: children were in a disgusting state, and she suggested that a doctor should be called in; but Mrs. Fbarn replied that measles was only a child's complaint.
Mrs. Fearn's counsel said that thert> was abundant evidence in defence, but he preferred to reserve it.
