PERSONAL.

The Hon. C. J. Carrington, M.L.C., arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning. The Rev. C. A. Watson, of St. Paul's [, vicarage, returned by the Limited this morning from Wellington. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, returned from Wellington this morning. Mr. J. R. Fow, Mayor of Hamilton, left for Wellington last evening, to attend the quarterly meeting of the executive of the Municipal Association to-day. Messrs. H. L. Cole and D. K. Blair, advisory members of the New Zealand Railways Commission, left by train last evening for Wellington. Mr. V. R. Meredith, Crown solicitor in Auckland, left for Wellington last evening. He expects to return on Monday. Sir Carrick Robertson, Dr. E. B. Gunson and Dr. J. Hardie Neil returned by the Limited this morning from Wellington. Mr. J. R. Lundon, member of the Auckland City Council, was last evening granted leave of aibsence from the next two meetings of the council, as he is to pay an extended business visit to Wellington. Messrs. M. J. Bennett, J. Brownlee and W. H. Murray, members of the City Council, were absent from last evening's council meeting on account of illness. A vote of sympathy was passed with Mr. G. Knight, an ex-councillor, who was injured in a street accident this week. Advice has been received by Commissioner J. Cunningham, commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, that General E. J. Higgins, international commander of the Army, will visit New Zealand next year. The dates will be March 23 to April 10. Among the important events which General Higgins will conduct during his visit will be the annual congress of the New Zealand corps.
