OBITUARY.

MR. EVAN BOND,

A resident of Auckland for 64 years, Mr. Eyan Bond died on August 6 at his home in Paget Street, Ponsonby. He was born in England 76 years ago and came to Auckland with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Bond, by the ship Liverpool, in 1860. The Bond family were amongst the early settlers in the Wade district. During the big mining boom Mr. Bond did business on the Exchange, but was not a member of the Auckland Brokers' Association. He was for some years a member of tho choir at Beresford Street Congregational Church.

MR. ALEXANDER McPHEE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANG ARE I, Thursday. The death occurred last night of Mr. Alexander McPhee, aged 74 years, one of the oldest residents of this district. Mr. McPhee came from Nova Scotia when an infant, and spent the whole of his life as bridge builder in the Whangarei district. He was a man of fine character and highly esteemed. Mr. McPhee was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, 1647 E.C., and also Past First Principal of Whangarei Royal Arch Chapter. He was also for many years an elder of the Presbyterian Church.

MR. G. H. BONNINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The death has occurred of Mr. George H. Bonnington, a well-known chemist, at the age of 65 years. Mr. Bonnington was popular in bowling and also musical circles. He was a son of .the late Mr. George Bonnington, who, in 1872, started a business of manufacturing chemist and, druggist in High Street, Christchurch.
