HUMAN SKULL FOUND.

WITH BOX OF OLD COINS. IN CENTRE OF TE KUITI. An interested crowd gathered round the entrance to the Grand Hotel, Te Kuiti, on Monday, when the news spread that during the course of pulling down portion of the building, winch is undergoing repairs, there had been found some human remains, a quantity of coins and a faded "message." All were lying in the ground under the building. A human skull, a box of old coins, and some writing on old paper and also on a piece of rubber ball were taken to the police station. The information on the piece of rubber was: "Here lie the remains of William Post (or Fost); alias Billy the . With him are buried his ill gotten gains—'buried 4ft deep." The box contained old coins to the number of about 110, and comprised old English, Belgian, Chinese, German, French, Japanese, Indian, and coins of other nationalities. Whether there is anything 111 the message concerning the "ill gotten gains buried 4ft deep" will probably be settied when that part of the floor where the message vyas found is removed and operations are carried out. Ihe police are of the opinion, however, that the matter is a joke perpetrated apparently years ago, as the place of the finding has been covered in with the concrete front of the Grand •Hotel lor many years.
