PLAYER CRITICS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) SYDNEY, August 1. Speakere_at the annual meeting of the N.S.W. Cricket Association this week spoke strongly against the px - actice of visiting players criticising the umpiring in games in Australia. "It is time the Board of Control made representations in the matter," said Mr. Syd. Smith, jun., manager of the 1926 Test team which toured England. "I refer to the carping remarks of Messrs. M. J. Turnbull and M. J. C. Altom, in their book relating to the recent tour of the 11.C.C. team which toured Australia and New Zealand," added Mr. Smith, jun. "One of the tradi-" tions of the game is to accept the umpire's decision." New South Wales Cricket Association showed a loss of £5500 on the year's operations. "That £5000 has not been lost, though," commented the annual report, "for prospects were never brighter, and the new country policy which produced Bradman, McCabe and All«opp ie bearing fruit already."
