Stubbs and Misa Stubbs, of Wapiti Avenue, Epsom, who have been spending a lengthy holiday in Australia, returned to Auckland yesterday. » » # • Among recent visitors to the Overseas League branch in Paris were Mrs. K. Anthony Carr, of Auckland, Miss Mary Butler and Miss C. Penfold, both of Wellington. Miss E. M. Thomas, of Christchurch, is assistant secretary at this branch, where all members of the League are made very welcome. # # » » Eight women detectives have been appointed to the C.1.D., Scotland Yard. If this revolutionary change is successful, women detectives, it is expected, will operate in all metropolitan police work. They have a good appearance, and all have undergone an intensive course of instruction. One of their chief duties will be to investigate the white slave traffic and the peddling of cocaine and other drugs.
