REBELS ON WARPATH.
Sharp Clash With Troops in
Afghanistan.
DISASTROUS MARCH ON KABUL,
DELHI, Jiily 30,
A large force of Kohidamaii rebels who were inarching on Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, encountered a body of Afghan troops at Murabeg Fort, 30 miles from the city; and a fierce battle ensued. The tribesmen were routed, 100 being killed and 3000 captured. The prisoners were taken handcuffed to Kabul.
Apparently the rebels had depended for success upon the indifferent attitude of the Afghan troops, who liave not been paid for three months. • Airmen later bombed and destroyed the four principal rebel villages.
