COMMISSION ON RAILWAYS.
{By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, Wednesday. At the monthly meeting of the Opotiki or< ?Pgh Council last night it was decided 1° rates 011 the property owned 7 the A. and P. Association. It was <*■30 resolved to pay an annual eubscripoa to the Bay of Plenty Development and to write to the Divisional uperintendent of Eailways in Auckland pointing out that the railway to Tane3.tua was not a branch line, but part of ® as t Coast Main Trunk system. The motion of Mr. Shalfoon, that all «>cal bodies meet in connection with the supplying of information to the commission .which is dealing with branch railways, was carried.
Tie Valuation Department notified the council that a sitting of the Assessment Court" would take place at Opotiki on August 4. An extensive list of permanent works to main highways and footpaths was submitted by the works committee, and Jae council approved the works.
