AKARANA YACHT CLUB.

36TH ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT.

The thirty-sixth annual presentation of prizes of the Akarana Yacht Club was held last evening in the club house, Mechanics' Bay, in the presence of over 300 members and friends and representatives from the local yacht clubs.

The prizes numbered 77, and included six cups and miniatures, coils of rope, side lights, bronze and plated ware. They were neatly arranged at the top of the social hall, and made a very fine display. The hall was decorated in the club's colours, red, white and bhic, the supper room being relieved with bunting and fernery. The commodore, Mr. T. Mackay, and the hon. secretary, Mr. Geo. E. Laycock, were untiring in their attention to the visitors, "while the ladies' committee, Mesdames Jeffers, Miller, Webster, Heard, Vercoe, and Misses RatcliiTo and Hanlon, carried out the supper arrangements. The commodore, before calling on Captain H. H. Sergeant to present the prizes, stated that five days racing were held, all events being well contested. The social side of the club was also a success, the revenue from this source helping very materially with the prize list. The club home was in good order and now almost free of debt. Mr. Mackay read apologies from the Hon. J. B. Donald, M.P., and Mr. W. P. Endean, M.l\ Captain Sergeant congratulated Mr. Mackay and members of the club on the very good position they were in. He also remarked on the goodly array of prizes and congratulated the winners, and hoped that the losers would be winners next year. The cup winners were as follows: —Club Commemoration Cup, Mr. J. Warden's Iona; Brett Cup for Star class, Mr. R. Mouatt's Moa; Heolin Cup, Mr. R. Stewart's Manene; Club Cup, Mr. W. Rogers' Shalimar; Captain White Cup, Mr. K. Conly's Hula; Ailsa Craig Cup, Mr. L. Heard's Kenya. Mr. Stewart's Manene also won the points flag with the record of 25J points, and four other prizes. Other winning boats were:—Huia 4 prizes,® Ifga Toa 3, Lois 3, Mowai 3, Shalimar 3, Why Not 3, Maybelle 2, Omatere 2, Starloch 2, Rakoa 2, Mawhiti 2, Fay 2, Nyria 2, Namu 2, Maid Marian 2, Opah 2, Mavis B. 2, Moa 2, and Doreen 2; Beaute, Pandora, Scout, Speedwell, Janet, Iris, Starlight, Valeria, Waitui, Bungaree, Rangalirn, Surprise, Wild Wave, Secret, Ranui, Desdemona, Marie T., Rahiri, June, Kenya and Rainona, one prize each. ... At the conclusion of the prize-giving the commodore thanked Captain Sergeant for his interest in the club, and he was accorded three cheers. After supper, dancing was continued until midnight to the music of Stacey's orchestra.
