UNFIT TO DRIVE MOTOR CAB.
CHARGE OF INTOXICATION.

HAWERA, Wednesday, Resulting from a motor collision on the evening of June 3, one of the drivers involved, a Maori, Whitikia Kairimu, was to-day fined £20 and his driver's license was suspended for twelve months. He was charged with intoxication while in charge of a car.
Defendant pleaded not guilty and protested that he had had only two drinks on the day of the accident. The magistrate accepted the opinion of three witnesses that neither defendant nor his companion was in a fit state to drive. . further charges of negligent driving and driving without a license defendant was convicted and discharged.
