STORM IN PACIFIC.
STEAMER FORCED TO RUN.
ARRIVED A DAY LATE
For the past fortnight a continuous gale from the south and south-west has been experienced in the South Pacific, according to the report of the Federal steamer Pakipaki, which arrived at Auckland from Liverpool this afternoon.
/n spite of tremendous seas that continually broke aboard and flooded the decks, the Pakipaki did not heave-to, and on Tuesday she hoped to make port the following evening. Yesterday, however, the gale was so strong that she had to turn and run northward before it. By the Vtme the weather had moderated sufficiently for her to resume her voyage, she was 100 miles off her course, and could not arrive until to-day. No (lamage was done on board. The City of Khartoum, which was expected to arrive at Auckland from New York this evening, now radios that the will not get li°.rc before daybreak tc-jfOiTOW. She is on the same course as the Pakipaki trnvelUc, and h probably meeting eimila; veather.
