TEMPORARY MEASURE?
NEW PLYMOUTH DISCUSSION.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday.
The new tariff proposals were the subject of discussion at a special meeting of the Tamil aki Chamber of Commerce. It was decided to take no further action at present beyond passing the following resolution: "While recognising that the Government is forced by the present state of finances to obtain additional revenue through the Customs, the chamber hopes that the imposition of the surcharge is an entirely temporary measure and that it will be removed at {lie earliest opportunity."
