A. Julian, who has been on the invalid list, is now all' right, again, and the popular Epsom trainer is back at the track superintending the requirements of his team.

Tom Pepper is receiving attention from Geo. Phipps, but the chestnut, although trotting fairly solidly, does not show any great pace, and it will be some time before he develops sufficient speed to win a race.

Goldman is putting a lot of vim into his work. The son of Gold Bell was a real good pacer a couple of seasons back, but there are so many young, and improving horses now that it is hard for Bini to get a. stake.

■ W. Brain is not allowing Nelson Tasker to be idle, aud the bay pacer has done a fair .amount of work lately. He raced unsuccessfully at the winter meeting, hut he should be a better horse at the end of next mouth.

Rolfe Audubon has not raced for soine time, hut the chestnut son of' Great; Audubon has been doing plenty of steady jogging recently, and has rounded up nicely. He will not require very much fast work. to tune him up for- early racing.

Tradesman, Margaret Wallace, and Solidity, are • a trio E. Sandall- is working. They, do not. make a very strong set, but Margaret Wallace and Tradesman, although not first-class propositions, are always liable to be in the money in classes which suit them.

C. G. Lee is not asking Parrish Belle to.do anything very strenuous. The filly is a fine trotter for her age, and though defeated inTjoth her starts at the winter meeting, she registered two fine performances as the heavy going would not suit her, and she only faded out in the straight each day.'"

The intermittent wet weather which has obtained for the past couple of weeks has not favoured trainers at Epsom, and little solid work has been accomplished. However, the cinder track is now finished, and with this available trainers will be able to send their teams along fast in any weather.

Nella Dillon ia doing useful work, but ,&he is not keen in her training efforts and will not do her best: In a race she is as honest as the day, and she promises t- be ready when the .relief .meeting pomes along. The daughter of Author Dillon 4ias not been very fortunate in her racing, and has gone some fast races without winning.

L. MeMahon has Gold Jacket and Mignonrie in steady work. There are no races to suit Gold' Jacket yet awhile, but possibly his owner is setting the New Zealand Cup iwith him. Fit and wfell on the dav the Aucklander would take a lot of beating. Mignonne has shown epeed on the track, but she may not.be a good one just now. . *

W. Clifton is keeping Explosion and The Abbey going, and the pair will be on hand at the relief meeting next month. The chestnuts arc looking m tip-top condition, and it will require very little fast work to put them at their best. Explosion is now going at the trotting gait, and he will probably be raced with the squai-e-gaited horses.

F. Smith is not much with Antonia Direct, and the English-hred pacer is not intended for serious business until later in the season. Prince Triumph and a maiden by Peter Moko are just now being given attention by the Epsom trainer. Prince Triumph is going along the right way, but it will be some time before he has the necessary pace to win a race. -',
