RICCARTON GALLOPS.

HORSES FOR SYDNEY.

LIMERICK LEAVES THIS WEEK

T. LLOYD'S TEAM,

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")

CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

Overhead conditions were very pleasant at Riccarton this morning, as the sun was shining while training operations were in progress. Heavy rain overnight, however, made the tracks soft. No. 1 grass track provided fair galloping conditions, and most of the fast work was done there.

F. D. Jones gave all his team good work. First Sight ran half a mile very easily in 53 2-ss. Paquito followed in 51 2-ss, striding along very freely, and Craigavon equalled that performance, while Limerick registered 55s going very easily. Later in the morning Arikiwai and Dunraven were associated in a run over a mile. They ran the first half in 535, and finished the full journey in 1.49. These six horses will comprise Jones' team when he leaves for Sydney this week. They all look in good order for the trip.

Gay Crest was given a working gallop over a mile, while his mates, Adelphi and the rising two-year-old Royal Baby, did useful pacing. T. Lloyd will leave for Sydney with this trio on Thursday, and they arc in nice order for spring racing.

Gala Day jumped two hurdles smartly. He will contest the Longbeach Hurdle Race at the Christchurch Hunt meeting, and may be seen in minor steeplechases at the Grand National meeting.

Pangolin gave a good exhibition while jumping two hurdles twice!

Radiate and Gold Mint were associated over a mile. They kept together all the way, going at a fair pace, but without being required to do their best.

Rapina and Sweet Refrain occupied 1.21 3-5 for six furlongs.

WharnclifTe and Lord Ranald were companions in a working gallop over a mile. They strode out freely, and were going o.u well at the end.

Aberfeldy moved in good style while running a mile along in 1.51 3-5.

The Southland trio, Apache, Paris, Taramoa, got. through useful tasks. They look in good order.

It is understood H. Donovan will take charge of tho team formerly trained by J. Beban, who died last week.
