CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
Wo must all admire the informants is prosecutions for cruelty, who put aside a natural dislike to tale-bearing and run the risk of subsequent unpleasantness with .neighbours, to notify either the police or that invaluable Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Publicity is the greatest deterrent to cruelty of this kind, and such champions of animals have their reward in knowing.abuse has been prevented, and probably other animals spared. I like to think a recent case isolated, for I have lived in the country off and on for years, and have never seen cruelty of the kind. Owners would not allow it, for, apart frow the humane aspect, the cow is too valuabe commercially. It pays to rug her and keep her well. She is a wage-earner and well wont consideration. SHEPHERD.
