OBITUARY.

MRS. M. A. PROHL.

A resident of Ponsonby district for nearly half a century, Mrs. Mary Ann Prohl died at her home, C-ollingwood Street, on July 20, aged 81 years. She was the widow of, the late Mr. CarL Rudolph Prohl, master mariner, and a daughter of the late Captain John Booth, who traded between Britain and China in a- tea clipper. Mrs Prohl was born in Aberdeen, and came to Auckland in the ship Forfarshire, in 1875. For some years Mrs Prohl managed the old Park Hotel in Wellesley Street, in the building now occupied by the Girls' Friendly Society. Mrs. Prohl is survived by one daughter, three sons, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

MRS. ELLEN CASEY.

While on a visit to Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, Mrs. Ellen Casey died on July 21 at the residence of her daughter. Born in London, Mrs. Casey came to New Zealand 34 years ago, and settled at Napier, but for the last 20 years had lived in Auckland. She is survived by •the following children: Messrs. Eugene, Thomas, Andrew, Richard and Leo Casey, Mrs. Kelly, of Tauranga, and Mrs. L. CJheriton, of Lake q Te Anau. Mr. Eugene Casey is divisional superintendent of railways for the North Island. /

Requiem Mass will be celebrated to-morrow morning at St. Joseph's, Grey Lynn, after which the interment will take place at Waikumete.

MR. JOSEPH FORD,

The death occurred at his home, Kingsland, on July 11, of Mr. Joseph Ford, of the firm of Ford and Richardson. He was born in London, and after serving his apprenticeship to the drapery business went to South Africa. Later he was in Australia, where ha floated a silver mine into a company at Broken Hill. In 18S7 Mr. Ford married, at Goulburn, New South Wales, Miss Christina Seiffert, and later lived in Melbourne. He came to New Zealand in 1901, and after being three years in Wellington came to Auckland, where he carried on a business of manufacturing bedding. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. E. A. Smart and Miss A. Ford, and one son, Mr* F. L. Ford.
