VERDICT OF " ACCIDENTAL."

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRIS TCHURCB!, Monday. When crossing the railway line near Linwood station on the evening of June 27, William Henry Irwin, an enginedriver, aged' 40, was struck by an electric train and killed. At the inquest to-day evidence wa6 given that there was 110 thoroughfare across the tracks at the point where he was struck. The coroner found that death was due to injuries received through being accidentally struck by an electric train. TROTTING DRIVER, HURT. GATE PA RACECOURSE MISHAP (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, Monday. On the Gate Pa racecourse yesterday Mr. H. J. Long, who is well known in the trotting sport, was driving a young trotter in a sulky when the reins broke and he was thrown out, his right leg being broken between the knee and the, ankle. James Yelich, aged five years, was knocked down by a motor bus at Hikurangi, and received a fracture of the jaw and a broken, leg. He was considerably bruised and cut in several places, and four teetli were knocked out. The child was taken to the Wliangarei Hospital, and is now 1 reported to-be making good progress. ELECTRICIAN INJURED. EXPLOSION OF FUSE. An electrician, Mr. Norman Smith, aged 2.3, residing at 22, Dedwood Terrace. Ponsonby, received serious burns to the face and hands when a fuse blew out in the Harbour Board's electrical department at about 8.30 tlijs morning. He was taken by the St. John Ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, and is reported to be in a fairly serious condition. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Mr. David C. Ingram, an employee of Hancock and Co., was knocked down by a ljiotov car on Saturday afternoon when proceeding to the, Britain v. Auckland Rugby match at Eden Park. He was crossing Manukau Road from the corner of George Street and was about four fe«t from the kerb of the footpath when the motor car hit him. His left knee was sprained and the ligaments lacerated, and, he also received a severe injury to the base of his spine. The driver of the car was a Mr. Ritchie, of Federal Street. % HOSPITAL CASES.
