EXTENDED TO AMERICANS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Two American athletes, George Simpson, of Ohio, and George Bullwinkle, of the College of New York City, have been invited to tour New Zealand during the coming athletic season by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. Harlaw Rothert, of California, a field-events man, may also be invited, but hie nomination will .be referred to local centres. Simpson is 20 years of age. His record for 100 yds is 9 5-10s, and for 200 yds 20 6-10s. Bullwinkle is the same age. His best time for one mile is 4.18 8-10, and for half a mile 1.54 7-10. He has beaten Lermond, who toured New Zealand last season, over three-quarters °f a mile in 3.5 3-10. Rothert's best per- ' formances are: Shot, 51ft OJin; javelin, 178 ft 6in; discus, 143 ft; high jump, sft lOfin.
There are no athletes suitable in Canada for bringing over here; and, since South Africa has invited American athletes to tour their country, it could not be expected to invite a South African team here. . The Americans will probably remain in New Zealand between January 12 and March 24.
