SUBSIDY FOR UNEMPLOYED
NORTH AUCKLAND COMPLAINT,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WHANGAREI, this day.
The Whangarei Borough Council last night complained that assistance . promised by the Government for the relief of unemployment had fiot been forthcoming. The council applied a month ago for £600, which it was prepared to subsidise for the Otaika Road, where it was proposed to give work to men who were not suited for country jobs, but no definite reply was received, and in the meantime families were in distress.
The council decided last night to impress the urgency of the matter upon the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. A. J. Murdoch, who is also the member for the district.
