FOLLOWED WOMAN IN STREET OBSCENE EXPRESSION USED. After being paid off his ship yesterday, Joseph Armstrong, a seaman, aged 43, imbibed too freely, with the result that he was arrested "on charges of drunkenness and obecene language. He pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning. "At 7 o'clock last evening, a young woman, a stranger to Armstrong, was walking along Queen Street, when accused followed her and made use of an obscene expression several times," said Sub-Inspector Shanahan. " She told him she would give him in charge if lie did not leave her alone, but ho persisted, so the young woman handed him in charge." Accused had never been in trouble before. Armstrong was fined 5/ or 24 hours' imprisonment on the first charge, and £2, or seven days', on the second.
