ART FRAUDS.
FRENCH PAINTER SENTENCED, (Received 12 noon.) PARIS, June 17. Jean Charles Millett, charged at the instance of the Thompson Art Gallery London, has been sentenced to on« year's imprisonment for passing worthless cheques. At the beginning of May, the ari world was thunderstruck by the revela tion that hundreds of apparently .genuine pictures by Jean Francois Millet, of th< Barbizon school of French impressionists were faked by his grandson, Jean Charlei Millet. In early childhood the bo;j acquired great skill in imitating hii grandfather's paintings, _ and he wai tempted to add the initials J.F.M. an( sell the copies as genuine.
